Kyoto's Enmachi Horin-ji, known as Daruma-dera, is a verified place to visit and obtain daruma—not a painting session we have verified. Its reviewed official pages do not advertise a painting workshop. Ask before planning hands-on activity; this does not mean no workshops exist elsewhere in Kyoto.
The temple is about 10 minutes on foot from JR Enmachi according to its official access page. Do not confuse it with Horin-ji in Arashiyama. Check Enmachi Horin-ji access and its daruma offerings.

WORKSHOP QUESTIONS
We have verified Enmachi Horin-ji as a place to visit and obtain daruma, but not a painting workshop there. Ask the temple before planning a hands-on activity. It is different from Horin-ji in Arashiyama; the reviewed pages do not establish that Kyoto has no workshops elsewhere.
No. Our visit account concerns a priest chanting and placing the first eye dot. Shorinzan also advertises a separate daruma-painting experience. Daimonya offers eyebrow-and-mustache painting on a prepared doll. The shop videos document our visit, not participation in either workshop.
No. Some routes begin with a prepared form and focus on painting or calligraphy. The Chofu route adds fabric to a form, while the Takasaki tour route includes a look inside a workshop. The finder labels these formats separately.
